In January 2022, Jim became managing partner of Richards Rodriguez & Skeith LLP, only the second partner to serve in that role since the firm’s founding in 2005.
Jim Howicz’s practice focuses on general corporate matters, negotiating commercial transactions, drafting contracts, and providing legal counsel in financial services. Jim advises small and mid-sized businesses on employment issues and handles a wide variety of legal matters for banks and lenders focusing on credit and collections. He also represents clients with legal issues before state and federal regulators.
With over 27 years as a successful corporate lawyer, Jim knows the issues businesses face. Earlier in his career, Jim joined two startups as general counsel. Working with start-ups presented a wide variety of issues ranging from operations issues such as leasing space, outsourcing operations and implementing standardized policies and controls to licensing and employment matters.
Prior to that, Jim led the financial services legal team at Dell for 10 years. His experience provided him with exposure to the challenges large and small businesses face on both a local and global scale. Jim is especially proud of drafting agreements and negotiating transactions that helped Dell Financial Services grow to be a $5B business and expand internationally.
Jim and his family have lived in the Round Rock community since 2002. He enjoys local activities and community involvement. Currently, Jim is the pro bono general counsel for the Round Rock Chamber and serves on the Community Impact Council for the United Way of Williamson County.
Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Chicago and completed his Doctor of Jurisprudence at Tulane University, graduating with honors.
