The Texas Super Lawyers selections for 2022 have been announced and Richards Rodriguez & Skeith is very pleased to announce that five of our partners have been chosen as 2022 Texas Super Lawyers award recipients.
Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The patented selection process includes independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations. No more than 5% of lawyers in any state are named to the Super Lawyers list.
The RRS attorneys selected to the 2022 Texas Super Lawyers list are Clark Richards, Dan Richards, David Rodriguez, Paul Skeith, and Tonia Lucio.
Clark Richards is a trial attorney and partner at RRS. Selected to each Texas Super Lawyers list since 2020, Richards graduated from the University of Texas Law School as a Doctor of Jurisprudence with high honors and was named to the Chancellor’s Honor Society. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1997 and received an L.L.M. with Merit in International Commercial Law from the University of London. Clark is an avid percussionist, Assistant Director of Austin Samba, and general counsel to the Austin Film Society.
Dan Richards is also a trial attorney and founding partner at RRS. He has now been selected for the annual Texas Super Lawyers list for 14 years running, since 2009, and is also rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest level of professional excellence. Dan is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Texas Bar Association, the Austin Bar Association, and has lived in Austin his entire adult life with his wife and two children.
David Rodriguez is an RRS founding partner and general counsel to several tech companies and middle-market businesses throughout the state of Texas. Rodriguez has been named to the Texas Super Lawyers list for nine consecutive years and is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, on the Executive Committee of the Texas Business Hall of Fame, and is a member of several organizations, including the American Bar Association and Austin Bar Association. David is married with three boys, has lived in Austin since 1983, and is an active community member and volunteer.
Paul Skeith was the managing partner of RRS during its first 17 years of existence. He has been selected as a member of the Texas Super Lawyers list every year since 2017 and was also chosen by his peers as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2009, 2011, and 2012. Paul is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell in Corporate, Commercial, & Business Law. Admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1998, Skeith is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and was ordained as an Episcopal Priest in 2017. He is currently Pastor of the SoCo Episcopal Community in South Austin.
Tonia Lucio earned her J.D. at the University of Houston Law Center, cum laude, in 1995. This is the 10th straight year that she has been named to the Texas Super Lawyers list—first chosen in 2013. Lucio was also named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2004, 2005, and 2008 and is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. She is a member of several organizations, including the Federal Bar Association, American Bar Association, and College of the State Bar, and is an alumnus of Leadership Austin. A fluent Spanish speaker, Tonia serves as U.S. litigation counsel for Chile-headquartered international companies and represents indigent clients pro bono through Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas.
In addition, attorney Tucker Villarreal was chosen for the 2023 Rising Stars list by the Super Lawyers service. To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, the same eligibility requirements as noted above for Super Lawyers candidacy still apply. However, there are additional requirements to be selected for the Rising Stars list: a candidate must either be 40 years old or younger, or in practice for 10 years or less. No more than 2.5% of possible candidates are selected for the Rising Stars list in any given year.
Villarreal joined RRS as a partner in 2019 after a year-long clerkship with the firm. He earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 2019 and was Research Editor for the Texas International Law Journal. Villarreal volunteers at the University of Texas McCombs School of Business, mentoring young business owners on various legal matters. A Corpus Christi native, Tucker also serves as a member of the Caritas Community Advisory Board.
